Need
More Traffic to Your Website?
Proven Ways that will
Increase your Website Traffic
& Boost your Sales
1. Education Attracts Your Ideal Client
Situate
you and your company or organization as the expert and
leader by writing informative articles about your field. For
example, if you are a Bed & Breakfast owner, write articles
about home décor, home maintenance, gardening, or share
recipes. Publish these articles on your website, in your
blog, and in your email newsletter. Updating your website
and blog consistently with good content will give you more
good keywords. This means you are giving the search engines
such as Google and Yahoo, more ways and reasons to list you
higher in web searches, which means your potential clients
have more ways to find your website.
You should also submit them to publications that cover like
subjects such as travel, home and garden, or food and wine.
This type of article will appeal to your ideal type of
client. Repetition and consistency is the key to marketing
success, so make this writing venture a monthly habit. You
don’t need to be a pro writer – after all, you’re simply
sharing tips about something you are an expert in! Other
ideas where you can share your useful information to
potential clients includes radio interviews, TV interviews,
video clips such as on youtube, and public speaking
opportunities.
2. Email Newsletters
Attract Potential Clients & Repeat Clients
Have a sign-up box on your website encouraging
website visitors to sign up for an email newsletter from
your company. Your email newsletter should feature news,
sales or discounts, upcoming events, and most importantly -
an article or some tips that pertain to your field. For
example, if your business is a candy shop, your email
newsletter should feature anything newsworthy in regards to
your store, any new items in the store, a sales item or
discount (especially if you sell candy online), upcoming
events – these could be local events that you are involved
in, or events that will bring visitors to your community and
store, or events such as Valentine’s Day that include ‘candy
gift-giving’. The newsletter should not be too pushy sales
wise, and should have an article or some tips. For example,
as a candy company you could do a little research and write
about the various types of candy such as the history of
chocolate, recipes using chocolate, the health benefits of
chocolate. If you belong to a ‘candy association’ or
industry organizations, they can often provide you with some
interesting facts. If your newsletter subscribers know you
have a contest in each newsletter, they are more likely to
open it up.
Your email newsletter will be going out to existing clients
and since sales is a numbers game, this effort will remind
them to become a repeat customer. The newsletter will also
be going to potential clients that you typically wouldn’t
even know existed. Sending them the newsletter gets them a
step closer from being merely interested in your company to,
becoming an actual customer. Also, note that since these
subscribers signed up for the newsletter themselves – this
is a permission based newsletter, which means you are nor
spamming. They can opt out at anytime. To attract brand new
clients, advertising in other website newsletters is very
effective, getting your name out to a niche audience that
may never have heard of you before.
A great way to bring
traffic to your website is to start your own electronic
newsletter.... It's easy, affordable and helps keep you in touch
with your clients.

3. Get Listed & Get
Linked!
The more links to your website the better. It helps your
relationship with search engines such as Google and Yahoo,
giving you a higher and better placement in the web
searches. Note, you should only link to websites that have
to do with your company or industry, your location or
region, and news sources such as newspapers and magazines.
Make sure your company or organization is listed with a
direct link to your website in any organization you are
affiliated with such as a Chamber of Commerce, local
directories, and niche publications. Again, this will help
with your search engine rating, but will also put you in
more places for your clients to find you on the internet.
For example, if you are a local tour guide, your website
should be listed and featured with your local and regional
Chambers of Commerce and Visitor Bureaus; and on hotel and
lodging websites; attractions websites etc – these all
represent your local area where your potential clients will
be looking for your area’s travel and visitor information.
You should also list and link your website on niche market
websites such as travel websites and blogs, travel
magazines, and more.
4. And Don’t Forget…
Some of the easiest and simplest things often get looked
over. Don’t forget these website marketing basics – publish
your website address on everything including your business
cards; any print, TV or radio advertising; on any
promotional product handouts; on your website – make it easy
for people to return to your site and know your address; on
any printed matter – receipts, invoices, address labels,
envelopes. You can even get magnets with website address and
logo for your car…but that’s only a good idea if you are a
good driver!
5. You Can Build It and
They will Come – But will they Stay?
You can effectively market your website and increase your
traffic, but the buck cannot stop there. If you are
marketing to your target market and to your ideal type of
client, each visitor to your website is either a potential
client or already a client. Your website is a representation
of you and your business. If your website is hard to read,
hard to navigate, has broken links, no photos, no product or
services descriptions, has a lot of spelling and grammar
errors, does not have easy to find and complete contact
information, or is just plain unattractive – you could be
losing those potential clients or clients, instead of
gaining them. For example, if you are a wedding reception
location and you do not have a lot of good photographs for
potential brides to looks, and you have not described your
location’s amenities or packages – the bride will move on to
your competitions website. If your descriptions are good but
you have a number of spelling or grammatical errors – the
bride will question your abilities. If your contact
information is not easily accessible or legible (i.e. on
every page on your website), she will get frustrated, will
wonder if you really want her business, and could possibly
move on. So basically, clean it up a little before you build
your empire.
6. In a Nutshell
In a nutshell, the way to promote your website is by having
it featured in plenty of places on the internet, making it
easily accessible to your target market – your clients! Be
an expert in your field and share that knowledge
consistently. Advertise, write articles and put your website
address on everything you hand out or advertise with. It
takes an average of 8 times before a client or potential
client will react to any kind of advertisement. So the key
to success is to have a nice, user-friendly and informative
website, market it directly to your target market, do it
consistently, and don’t give up!
