About Globe, Arizona
Home to over 7,000 residents, Globe is located 3,500 feet above sea level, and is near US Highways 60 and 70, just 87 miles from Phoenix in a steep canyon of the scenic Pinal Mountains. Globe is the county seat of Gila County, and was founded in 1876, when a huge nugget of silver was discovered in the earth resembling a globe, hence the name ‘Globe’. The Native American culture can be experienced by people at the San Carlos Apache Reservation or enjoy many other outdoor activities at the nearby Tonto National Forest.

Distances & Directions

Located four miles from the junction of
US Highways 60 and 70, Globe is just 26 miles from Superior, 87 miles from Phoenix, 77 miles from Safford, 86 miles from Payson, and 101 miles from Show Low.
From Superior: Head east on Hwy. 60 past Miami, and continue onto State Rte. 70 which is still Hwy. 60, to Globe.
From Phoenix: Head east of Hwy. 60 past the communities of Superior, Miami, and Claypool. Take Arizona State Route 70 which is still Hwy. 60, for about 4 miles, heading east to Globe.
From Safford: Head west on State Rte. 70 past the communities of Thatcher, Pima, Fort Douglas, Bylas and Peridot; towards Globe.
From Payson: Head south on Hwy. 87, then go east on Arizona State Route 188 past Tonto Basin, and Roosevelt, to Globe.
From Show Low: Head south on Hwy. 60, through the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and the Tonto National Forest, to Globe.
